Cancerbero 0.6

Cancerbero 0.6 is a mayor feature enhancements version witch includes a lot of new and interesting features as well as some minor bug fix. This are the most important changes:

• New Alerts System.
  • View Alerts interface: it allows to look for alerts. It has filters for sensors, ranges, alerts, levels and status. It supports order by any field.
  • Status Alerts Alerts can be marked as checked or unchecked to better revision of new alerts.
  • Manage Alerts system permits to enable or disable alerts or complete plugins for all the system.
  • Integration of Alerts host page now shows the number of alerts generated for each scan and can be clicked to view them.
  • Plugins support new functionalities and alerts can be defined and extended through plugins.
  • Plugin "Compare with last scan" generate alerts and sends a mail with the differences between the last two scans.
  • Plugin "IPs without DNS Resolution", generate an alert if the host scanned has not DNS resolution.
  • Alert daemon (cancerberod) which runs periodically the plugins for alerts detection.

• New Owners system.
  • Ownership each Owner can be designed as responsible of multiple objects (owner,host,range,sensor).
  • Owners Alerts management Alerts can be enable or disable alerts for each ownership.
  • Alerts Email Support Alerts enabled for each ownership will be sent by email to the Owner.

• Tooltips help most of the configuration parameters have now a tooltip explaining what is for.
• Easy upgrade with a new web interface for install and upgrade the database.
• New icon menubar improves the visual usage. Host, scans, ranges, owners has a similar menubar.
• Range description name a range can be defined by a description name.
• A host enter and exit of the whitelist from host menu.
• Guided installation with a new install script, more flexible and complete, multi-distro (Fedora, RedHat, Debian, Ubuntu, Other).
• New icons set.
• Daemons waiting when no detect the DB and ask again some seconds after.
• DNS changes detection and let to the GUI change the value stored in the database if it is not correct.
• DB connection parameters stored in one configuration file cancerbero.cfg for sensor and GUI.
• Lots of minor improvements.

• Resolved some bugs from the previous version

Documentation for Cancerbero 0.6.x is in progress and is not complete now but we are working on it. Have a look to the Config Manual for updates.
